Expertise / Metrology
Industrial metrology: thermal mapping and calibration.
A sound measurement depends on what was decided beforehand.
MAJ Solutions combines thermal mapping of equipment with traceable calibration of temperature, humidity and pressure, on site or in the laboratory.
Uncertainty calculations, calibration intervals and intermediate checks round out this expertise, adapted to the constraints of industrial and pharmaceutical environments.
Thermal mapping
A mapping study stands on its method
Why these measurement points, this duration and this analysis period? A reliable mapping study requires justified choices, suited to the equipment and the applicable standard, notably FD X15-140.
Measurement strategy: choice of instruments, number and placement of probes according to the usable volume, the configuration and the objectives.
Conditions studied: identifying and justifying the analysis period, distinguishing steady state from transient phases.
Interpretation: homogeneity, stability, deviation from setpoint, indication error where applicable and allowance for uncertainties.
Traceability: calibrated instruments and documented correspondence between each probe and its position.
Beyond mapping, the unfavourable thermal zones identified can guide where the permanent monitoring probes of an EMS are placed.

Calibration & metrological reliability
Traceable calibration and control of instruments
A calibration certificate documents the results obtained on a given date. On its own, it does not guarantee that the instrument is fit for its use, nor that it keeps its performance over time.
Traceable calibrations
Temperature, humidity and pressure, on site or in the laboratory. When the specification requires calibration under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, MAJ Solutions can provide it through an accredited partner laboratory for the scope concerned.
Beyond calibration
Uncertainties: calculated and assessed against the measurement requirements.
Calibration intervals: set according to criticality, conditions of use and the available drift history.
Intermediate checks: suitable checks to monitor performance between two calibrations.
Applications & assignments
When to call on MAJ for metrology?
Targeted intervention
Equipment to map, instruments to calibrate or an EMS probe location to justify. We work on a specific need, with an approach suited to the constraints of your installation.
Technical reinforcement
A peak in workload or a fleet of instruments to organise. We support your teams in reviewing certificates, calculating uncertainties and setting calibration intervals.
Periodic follow-up
Critical instruments and equipment to keep under control. We can organise scheduled calibrations and mapping studies to suit your needs, with traceability of each intervention.
Contact
A mapping study to carry out or instruments to calibrate?
Tell us which equipment or instruments are involved, roughly how many, the quantities to measure and your deadline. For a calibration, say whether you want it on site or in the laboratory. We will get back to you for an initial technical discussion and agree on the approach that suits your need.
